Agent Query Critiques

Agent Query Critiques

Year after year, our Summiteers highlight our Featured Agent and Editor Panels as one of their favorite parts about Picture Book Summit. This year is sure to be no different with our Agent Query Critiques and Editors Panel.

Today we want to focus on the supernova talent this year’s Featured Agents are bringing to our panel for The Write Stuff: Creating Picture Books That are Out of This World, online on October 8, 2022

First Contact: Agent Query Critiques

PBSummit Agent Query Critiques

Three agents take real queries for a test flight and share how to make a big bang with your submission instead of being sucked into a black hole. Karly Dizon from Fuse Literary, Lori Kilkelly from LK Literary Agency, and Page Terlip from Andrea Brown Literary Agency will join us in this pre-recorded panel.

Let’s get to know this year’s agents:

Karly Dizon Picture Book Summit 2022Get to know Karly Dizon:

Associate Agent Karly Dizon was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Northern California as a child. She obtained her Business Marketing degree and has been a Freelance Graphic Designer for over 15 years. Karly has a deep love for characters with a strong voice and seeks out stories she can get lost in. Diversity in genre fiction is a major bonus. She specializes in picture book, middle grade, and young adult genre fiction.

Lori Kilkelly Picture Book Summit 2022Get to know Lori Kilkelly:
Lori Kilkelly is a literary agent specializing in YA and children’s literature. In 2018 she opened LK Literary Agency after working alongside industry veteran Paul Rodeen of Rodeen Literary Management for nearly a decade. In partnering with talented, best-selling, and award-winning creators like: Stacy McAnulty (The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl), Veronica Miller-Jamison (This is a School), Alex Willan (Unicorns are the Worst), and Sherri Duskey Rinker (Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site), Lori is proud to have helped bring over 100 relevant, funny, informative, and moving titles to readers. Paige Terlip Picture Book Summit 2022Get to know Paige Terlip:
Across age categories, Paige Terlip is drawn to high concept novels with captivating hooks, snarky characters with hearts of gold, creative magic systems, complicated relationships, and found families. She loves well-plotted twists, being a little bit scared, and stories that explore the fluidity of gender and bring queer experiences to light. Regardless of genre, she is seeking inclusive, intersectional voices and gorgeous line-level writing with emotionally compelling narratives. Prior to becoming an Associate Agent, Paige was a Senior Assistant for Executive Agent Laura Rennert, and has been with ABLA since 2017. She comes to agenting with a background in marketing, design, and freelance editorial. She’s worked at Charlesbridge Publishing, The National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and a ranch in the Rockies. She has an MA in Children’s Literature and an MFA in Writing for Children from Simmons University

Plus, each of these Featured Agents are part of this year’s pitch submission opportunities with the Summit + Submissions ticket!

Attendees who purchase the Summit + Submissions ticket will have the opportunity to pitch a manuscript to each Featured Agent and Featured Editor. They will each have their own submission form. That means you will be able to tailor your pitch to each individual agent or editor according to what they are seeking in submissions.

For example, you could submit the same pitch to every agent and editor, a different pitch for a different manuscript to each agent and editor, or anything in between. No matter what, you’ll have six opportunities to pitch YOUR project(s) to these industry professionals.

At this time, Karly Dizon and Lori Kilkelly are not open to general submissions, so this is an excellent opportunity to get your pitch in front of these two amazing agents!
