Houston, Your Manuscript Has a Problem

Houston, Your Manuscript Has a Problem

You’ve been there. You have a brilliant idea for a picture book. You’ve even written a draft. But something’s not working and you can’t quite figure out what the problem is, much less how to fix it.

We’ve been there, too. That’s why PBSummit Co-Founder Katie Davis developed this year’s workshop: Houston, Your Manuscript Has a Problem.

One of the best ways to navigate the bumpy ride to a tight manuscript is through critiques. Whether you’re receiving a critique, or evaluating your own manuscript, you need to know what’s holding your story back. In this session, Katie Davis will show you how to use the input you receive from critiques and be a good critique partner along the way. Get ready to take your work to a whole new stratosphere!

Get to know Katie:
Katie Davis is an award-winning writer/illustrator whose published work includes kidlit genres from picture books to middle grade to young adult. She still remembers a pivotal critique that brought her first (and now 24-year-old) picture book, Who Hops? to a whole new level. Another of her picture books, Kindergarten Rocks!, has been a perennial favorite since 2005. She is the former Director of the Institute of Children’s Literature and Institute for Writers and runs the Writers’ Block, a membership critique group. Her books have sold over a million copies and her two guides for writers, How to Promote Your Children’s Book and How to Write a Children’s Book both debuted at #1 on Amazon.
